On two remarkable days in this June, 18 and 19th, representatives of Faculty of Biology, HNUE and Biological Sciences Department of College of Science and Computer Studies, DLSU_D from the Philippines discussed deeply the student exchange program that will be launched in the next summer.
At the beginning the discussion section in Faculty of Biology, Associ.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Lan Hung Son and Prof.Dr. Rubie Causaren, the two Deans gave a warm greeting and firmly stated that this exchange program for students is the first step for the success in academic collaborations between the two faculties in Biological Science.
Next, Associ.Prof.Dr. Tran Duc Hau presented an overview of several issues for discussion, including requirements for choosing equivalent units, duration, assessment and the launching time. He reported a list of exchangeable subjects approved by the Science and Training Council of the Faculty of Biology, detailing subjects that students from HNUE should select to study in DLSU_D and vice versa for students from DLSU_D.
Participants focussed on looking for each approved subject on both sides and went to two significant conclusions.
1) Exchangeable subjects:
- Students from HNUE will be able to choose four subjects in DLSU_D, i.e., Fundamentals of Zoology Lec, Environmental Biology and Ecology Lec, Environmental Biology and Ecology Lab and General Microbiology Lec.
- Students from DLSU_D will be able to choose six subjects in HNUE, i.e., Zoology Lec, Ecology Lec, Field Study, Microbiology, Practical Microbiology and Technology, and Biochemistry and Cell Biology.
2) Time and duration
To prevent any disruptions in the curriculum schedule that ensure students will graduate on time, the two sides decided to implement this exchange program in the summertime, starting the next year. HNUE’s students will stay ca. 5 weeks in DLSU_D and those from DLSU_D have about 10 weeks learning and experiencing HNUE.
In the showcase to the leaders of HNUE section on 19th, on behalf of the Biology group, Associ.Prof.Dr. Tran Duc Hau had a presentation showing the above conclusions. Several administration issues will be implemented before starting the exchange program, which ties the collaboration activities between HNUE and DLSU_D shortly.
