Sado Marine Biological Station (SMBS), Niigata University will organize an IMBC 2023 from 24th July to 29th on Sado Island of the Japan Sea. The program's main objective is to study marine animals' biodiversity and evolution through different fieldwork activities in different marine habitats by utilizing well-preserved marine ecosystems on Sado Island. From fifteen candidates in Faculty of Biology, HNUE, three was selected to participate in this year course.

1) Nguyen Ho Van Giap
Class: 72K
Expectation: By immersing myself in Japanese culture and nature, I hope to gain valuable insights and experiences that I can then share with others, deepen my knowledge of biology and research methods and apply them to my studies afterward. Also, I'm looking forward to making a lot of new friends worldwide!

2) Khuong Yen Nhi
Class: 72K
Expectation: I expect to get used to studying in an English environment and hope to gain more basic marine biology insights and vocabulary to prepare for my sophomore year in which I have to study my major in English. Moreover, I look forward to making new international friends and experiencing more cultures than just the Japanese.

3) Do Linh Chi
Class: 71K
Expectation: I am excited to participate in practical activities involving the study and observation of marine species. This hands-on experience will considerably enhance my knowledge of marine biology, allowing me to understand the subject better.

Schedule:
The course includes 8 days in Japan, comprising 5 days of studying and several intriguing hands-on activities, such as plankton sampling, artificial fertilization, etc. Aside from that, there are plenty of extra activities for participants to break the ice with one another, along with discovering a gold mine or visiting Tokyo Sea Life Park on the last day. IMBC 2023 also offers an online course from 24th July to 25th including 2 basic lectures namely “Classification” and “Characteristics of the Japan Sea and marine animals”, and other lectures from the invited researchers. All programs are in English, anyone can join!
