One time each year, the Faculty of Biology searches out the gems of hidden talent within it’s department to feature, parade and praise. This year, as always, the treasure was found in abundance. Talented teachers and students in the art of singing and dancing vied for a chance to be a featured star in the University-wide competition called “Hội diễn văn nghệ chào mừng ngày nhà giáo Việt Nam” (Vietnamese Teachers Day Performing Arts Festival). One student, Pham Van Hau of K67K demonstrated an exceptional talent in singing, and was chosen for a solo in the group performance of “Khát Vọng” or in English, “Hunger”.
Mr. Giang from the faculty of Arts within HNUE, devotedly and patiently coached several of the Faculty of Biology’s teachers and students in practicing singing every Monday for 5 weeks. His 4 part harmonies set this group up for success by ensuring a rich, full bodied sound. This song, with its profound meaning, resonates strongly with the biology lovers who are apt to admire and ponder all of the mysteries of nature that surrounds them.
This year, in addition to singing, traditional dancers were chosen from among the students to give life and a visual component to the song. The faculty would like to thank Ms. Dường, a student from the faculty of Arts, for her insightful and meaningful choreography. She practiced with the students many hours to ensure that the students danced in unison and with emotion and purpose. As a reward for her efforts, the students worked hard, and were willing to give forth their best effort to ensure a moving performance for the audience and judges at the competition.
All who participated, teachers and students alike, wanted to pursue excellence to the highest degree possible, and it showed! Despite extreme business with many teacher’s day preparations, everyone wanted to showcase their work ethic and ability to the rest of the University. As the students and teachers came together for one final practice Monday afternoon, the fruit of everyone’s effort was apparent. Will it be enough to claim a top prize at the competition? Come judge for yourself at the final competition held on Thursday evening, November 14th.
