A wonderful fieldwork program in Niigata University, Japan
“Marine Biology in English”, a short internship for students who study of biology held by Faculty of Science, Niigata University, was taken place in Sado Marine Biological Station.
This year, the event occurred from the 31st of August to the 3rd of September, and it was the first cooperation between Faculty of Science, Niigata University and Faculty of Biology, Hanoi National University of Education. The team from Vietnam including lecturer Dr. Tran Duc Hau and three students (Chu Hoang Nam, Bui Danh Quyet and Nguyen Nam Trung) participated the course with 11 students from Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
The journey began with interesting experiences in Japan, not only impressive modern life but also the beautiful natural sight seeing, especially the Japanese lifestyle. During the program, students effectuated a lot of research activities about marine animals and shore ecology. We had chance to sample in the early morning and evening, snorkel in order to observe and capture organisms under the water surface. After that, we identified collected samples into class and species levels and eventually made group presentation. In addition, Dr. Hau also had an attractive lecture about marine biology.
Apart from research activities, we had a wonderful farewell party and culture exchange among different nation people. In spite of all, the scientists there highly appreciated the students from Vietnam and expected a long-term cooperation in the future between the two faculties.
