At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Lan Hung Son, the Dean of the Faculty of Biology was very grad to welcome and discuss with Prof. Satoshi Kubota about the academic activities of the two universities, as well as the premise for collaborations. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Lan Hung Son briefly introduced information about the Faculty of Biology, faculty members, as well as training fields and potential collaboration in research at the Faculty of Biology.
Prof. Kubota shared some information about Kochi University and Kuroshio Science Program. Kuroshio Science name comes from the Kuroshio Current, a wide range of areas and water which moves northward from South-east Asian countries to East Asia and Japan, and is one of the largest warm currents in the world that reaches the eastern part of the Hawaiian Islands.
Ph.D. course at the Kuroshio Science program integrates various specialized fields related to resources, environment, society, health medical science, food and nursing in the Kuroshio area, and considers problems to be solved, comprehensively and interdisciplinary. The purpose of PhD course is to conduct basic and applied research related to the construction of a sustainable society in harmony with the natural environment in the Kuroshio region countries, and to disseminate information both concerned and internationally. In on-going activities, the course wants to promote interdissciplinary and International Collaboration on Higheer Education and Research. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Son and Prof. Kubota strongly believed that the renewal of MOU will be considered in the near future and this meeting would create a premise for academic exchanges, cooperation projects on training and research between HNUE and Kochi University in general, as well as the Faculty of Biology with the Kuroshi Science Program. After the meeting, Prof. Kubota was so excited to visit the facilities and observe research activities at the Faculty of Biology.
